How to install the velcro straps on rear of 4 Dr.
guys..
I have read a couple of posts regarding this but nothing firm as to how we can fix this. My 2008 4 Dr. has some metal clips in the rear, that are used to secure the torx screws of the hard top. These are fastened into each hole on each side of the Jeep. They have some plastic on the bottom of them that allows the unit to move, but I can't get it removed.
My issue will be that when I lower the soft top, I won't have access to tie down the top with the velcro straps, because this unit is sitting in the holes where the straps are to tie down.
I am sure others have this issue, and outside of maybe using bungee cord or lace, how can those clips be removed?

DO NOT remove the clips. Its just a hassle that you don't need to go through. Something may break, might get lost, etc... don't need to remove them.
Just velcro the soft top frame to itself to prevent it from opening up. You don't need to actually secure it to the JK tub. What I do is wrap the frame with velcro, and slide it towards the soft top to make it extra snug.
I'd show you a pic, but its raining today, and I'm not THAT worried to show ya
.
Next nice day I'll snap a photo... but I think you can get the idea from what I've written.

Those clips pop in and pop out with ease. I've removed/re-installed mine many times. If you really want to secure the top to the tub and don't want to hassle with all the clips, take the center clip out only and secure the straps there.

Exactly. I just popped one out from each side. Easy as pie.
I too just could not get those nuts out, but I was able to thread the straps through the hole with the nuts still in place. You just have to really bend them down a lot and then the velcro strap will fit through.
