Buddy and I went hunting in Sunday noticed an oil smell. Stopped and had a look underneath and noticed gear oil sprayed all around pinion seal. Ruh roh!! pulled fill plug and couldn't feel any oil, no cell service, no oil, no walking beer :( found sun tan lotion.... Soooo filled the diff with SPF 60 and drive 100k home. Front locker light started flashing while going down hills but made it home and didn't even catch on fire!! Pinion seal looks good bearing feels shot and I can turn the front drive shaft freely. So what's next drive it to the mechanic and ask why it smells like cocoanut? 2008 JKU Rubi

Okay man, I have to ask, did you at least drive home in 2 wheel drive with the front differential out of oil? And why sun tan lotion?

 

U bet 2wd the whole way 50-60km/h and it was sun tan lotion or doe urine I suppose I could have left the plug open and drove into the river to fill it with water lol

 

I vote for asking the mechanic why it smells like coconut.

Although the doe urine would have made you very popular with all the bucks.

 

I'm sure the mechanic will appreciate the coconut over the doe urine.
