Default I didnt think this was possible

I have a 2015 Rubicon Hard Rock with an Automatic trans. I thought all Hard Rocks came with 4:10 gears regardless of Transmission. I was surprised to learn I actually have 3:73's. Was this a special order or something?

no all automatics come with 3.73 standard and all manuals come with 4.10's standard. You can get 4.10's as an option with automatics but can not get 3.73's with manual as an option so all manuals will have 4.10's and Automatics will have one or the other. This is for any model of Rubicon.

I know 4:10's are standard with Rubi manuals and 3.73 is standard with Rubi autos. I was told however that on the Hard Rock Edition, 4:10 was standard for Auto.
I guess the question is, Does the Hard Rock auto come standard with 4:10's.

No, all subsets of the rubicon ie 10A, hardrock, recon all come standard with 3.73 with automatics. Even with a HR or Recon 4.10's with auto are options.

Thank you for confirming. I bought mine used and was surprised a person would get a Hard Rock edition and not opt to have 4:10 gears. They even went so far to lift it.

there are those who plan on re-gearing any way so they do not want to waste the money on paying for 4.10's when they do not plan on keeping them anyway and others just do not know any better or figure they are not going to do any modifications etc, going from 3.73 to 4.10's used to be a $95 upgrade then it went to $395 then to $495 and when I bought my 2018 recon it was $695.

i had a 2012 Manual Rubicon with 4:10 gears with 35” tires. According to the charts it was in the green zone and with the performance work I did had no need to jump up to 4:56.

Its odd because while the jeep I have now doesn’t have those performances mods, I only have 33in tires now. On paper I should be close to my old setup but it feels completely different. 35’s are in my future and so is a gear change.

So when did the Rubi's change to 3.73 on automatics? Was that when the JK's came out?

My 2012 Rubicon has 4:10 on the window sticker under standard equipment. So it must have been after 2012.
