I Twisted it right off!
So I twisted the front drive shaft right off on our 2008 JK Rubicon Unlimited.
My question is....
Is there a difference between the 2008 stock front drive shaft and the 2009 stock front drive shaft? Because there is a difference in price between the two at Mopar Parts America.
$186.75 2008 Front Drive Shaft
$226.53 2009 Front Drive Shaft
I would love to get a Reel or Teraflex front drive shaft but I just can't afford or justify that cost right now.

I can't think of what the difference would be, but that's odd the part no.s are different.
Either way, you should be able to find what you need a lot cheaper in the "for sale" section here than from the dealer.
And since it's the front, you should be able to get a take-off from either a 2 or 4 door model.

I never imagined the 3.8L had enough muscle do that. I am surprise the one of the joint didn't fail. How did you do this?
Why don't try to buy a cheap stock takeoff to hold you over until you can afford an aftermarket one?
x2. If you still have warranty, I bet they would take care of this. I ripped the evap canister off of mine in some very deep mud and they tok care of it under warranty. That would save you lots of money for next time when you want the after market!

I'm pretty sure if I take it to the Dealer they are going to laugh at me. I have 35" tires and a 3" lift on it. Both can have a direct result on the drive shaft failure. They will VOID that warranty fix so fast it wont be funny....
I have heard of stories of people getting lucky. It costs you nothing to try so why not?
