Idler pulley
Who here has replaced theirs? I am going on my 3rd :eek2:
I :dontknow2: why? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQ0P3aVXZ0U I'm going to need to stock these things and fan motors :rotflmao2: DO NOT TORQUE TO THE 45LBS THE FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL SAYS FOR THE PULLEY, it will break, 30lbs worked for another member, I just tightened it till it felt tight and rechecked it in a couple days special bolt needed for it, after a lot of trying another member finally got the part number for it after 3+ dealers couldnt help he talked to an Chrysler engineer, oops we left that part number out of the parts lists and drawing DUH, any how its part number 6508247aa for the bolt incase anyone breaks it, also you can get the Pulley at Napa for about $17-18. thanks Chris and Jay  edit: this is the tensioner pulley, with a 3/8 ratchet you can take just enough tension off the belt/idler pulley without even having to fully remove the belt. leave that ratchet there and with another take the idler pulley off, have the new one standing by where you can reach it, takes 2-3min max  beats going to the dealer and being without your jeep http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...0/IMG_1272.jpg see ratchet in hole to the left http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...0/IMG_1274.jpg the small black pulley top centerish is the idler pulley, one bolt and thats it http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...0/IMG_1273.jpg[/QUOTE] edit again haha: this is how one sounds with bad pulley, they dont always sounds exactly the same but close http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...h_MVI_1635.jpg |

count me in! wonder how easy they are to replace...
going to take a powerwasher to the motor this weekend to see if that helps at all. OH, and my battery lite randomly comes on as well. but, it did that before the trip. alternator might be a little funny too. |

can you just take the pulley off, clean it, grease it and put it back? it just has some of that silty sand stuck in it for the most part... :dontknow2:

I havn't had any isusses with mine yet.

Not sure what went wrong. My belt was shredded and saw the platic wheel on pulley was destroyed. Dealer( which has done lots of free work for me) said pulleys are not under warranty. Bought a new one and a spare pulley and belt just in case. worth not worrying about being stuck. Easy to repair quickly.
