Ignition Question on 09 jk

I've had my new jk for 600 miles now. Does anyone experience this: When I turn the key, there is a 1/2 to 1 second delay before the starter spins. Is this normal? I'm thinking it could be canbus related.

Mine does the same thing. I figured it was the Tip Start. Maybe it needs a second or two to catch up.

First startup in the morning mine cranks right up. But if I turn it off after running for 2-3 minutes because I forgot something in the house (live in SoCal where u don’t leave keys in auto when not there) it takes 2-3 seconds to crank up.

my 08 has a delay every time i turn the key warm or cold. figured it was just part of the computer system.

I have had my 09 for about three weeks. It has done this each time I start it. I assume it is just the way the ignition works. Everything is computerized and I marked it up to that.

The engine starts up right away once it cranks, delay from turning key to crank is only a fraction of a second. Just a slight delay compared to my Cherokee.

Mine does the same thing... Also seems to do it when I turn it off.

agreed. I don't really notice a difference cause I was always used to leaving the key on for a couple of seconds before cranking in my xj or it wouldn't start.

I think I know what you are talking about though when you hit the key to start there is a little pause till it actually cranks.

that is the sentry key delay
07+ all have it and it is normal

Funny, I have auto start and use it all the time so I never noticed the delay before reading this thread. Yup, my 09' does it also. :yup:
