it's not a fruit (lemon)...yet
I found a 2007 4 dr rubicon blue soft top automatic on the lot a few weeks ago. Other than the lousy fuel economy, I thought I found my vehicle.
I took it back to the dealer bc it was veering to the right: immediately after letting go of the steering wheel it would move into the next lane (if there was one). I had it for 10 days and put 700 miles on it before it made it into the shop.
They first replaced the steering knuckle. And that didn't solve the problem. They called Chryslr. techs. (I'm unclear whether or not the call was returned.) After a few more days of having my vehicle with the paper plates in their garage, they've decided to replace the front axle. They expect that to come in maybe next week. And they're not sure that will fix the problem.
I've looked around and haven't found any mention of a similar problem. They said it's not enough to damage the tires or unsafe to drive. I'm not sure about that.
I'm disappointed. And really not sure where this is going to go. I'd like to know if anyone has heard of this problem and any thoughts on how to handle warranty issues so early in ownership.

BTW, they also repaired the scratches in the dash near the glovebox. I haven't seen it yet. But, damn. It looked like a 10 year old vehicle... and they don't have any solutions on how to stop it from happening again. These scratches happened when my very short, soft nails touched it. I'll keep watching for someone to come up with something.

I wonder why they jumped to replacing the steering knuckle and axle? Sounds a bit extreme. Keep us posted! I would get a second opinion.
Oh and welcome to the forum!

They said the part was in -- the housing for the front differential/axle assembly. And that it would be a few days before it is ready.
I thought it was the alignment myself and wasn't so concerned until I brought it into the shop and they started replacing parts, especially this part. Seems to be an important part of the vehicle to me. Now, I'm just waiting to see if this solves the problem. I figure I don't have any choice but to let them try to fix it a few times.
I'm wondering if it can be fixed.
Hmmm....Is there a way to tell if our JKs were made on the same day??

Quick update: They did not install the new axle casing.
The dealer put on an after market camber kit to make the front end adjustable and said that it was "significantly improved" (There is not a camber kit being produced by the manufacturer yet.)
I believe that significantly improved means that it could not be successfully repaired.
I'm thinking...
I should seek a replacement or repurchase at this point.
That the camber kit modification may impact the warranty -- especially if it's ever taken to another dealer.
And that the vehicle shouldn't need to be modified to be safe and driveable at this early in its lifetime. I had it for one week before it went to the shop and haven't even made the first payment yet.
What do you think about this situation?
