Default JK battery replacement ?

I travel considerable distance in the back country off of "main" roads for hiking......what would be considered for the best battery for replacement of the "stock" battery????? I do not have a winch, and do not plan to install one, however I do use a VIAIR compressor to "air up" frequently....what has been the usual life span of the original batteries????? thanks

X2

My factory unit went after 40 months which is pretty good. Was glad to get it replaced by something a little more dependable

Two vendors that have more JK battery experience than I recommended the DieHard Platinum over the Optimas. Both said over the last few years, their opinion is that the Optima quality isn't as good as it used to be. Still a good choice, just not as legendary as they used to be.

Skip the optima. I've R&R'ed 5-6 Red Tops and 1-2 Yellow Tops over the years. Even without heavy usage, the batteries simply cannot hold a charge well after a year or two. The quality isn't what it used to be.

I've had, strangely enough, the best luck with Costco batteries, and their warranty policy is great.

Whatever you decide to buy, buy it from somewhere that does a high volume of battery sales- you are more likely to get a fresh battery vs. a mom & pop shop where your battery could have been sitting on the shelf for 6 months to a year before you came along and bought it....
