JK Self Tune Up - Difficult?
Hello all, new here so bare with me. I searched the topic but did not see much. I think most people know how to change their oil pretty easily, maybe not as high when it comes to other fluid flushes such as transmission etc etc etc.
Now that I back into a Jeep I am not going to throw so much money in the direction of my mechanic. I'm not the most mechanically incline so I am not sure if its worth tuning up your own Jeep.
How difficult is it to replace spark plugs, I havent researched where exactly they are even located yet. I have owned my JK for roughly 2 weeks now!

I have had my JK for a couple of weeks now too but I have been around cars and motorcycles all my life.
First I would recomend you to download the owners manual (so you don't have to open the preety CD) and read the Maintenance Schedule Section pages 506 - 524 and see what you don't feel comfortable doing yourself.
FYI sparkplugs should be changed at 102,000 miles, you have plenty of time to learn about their location

Shouldn't be too hard, especially if you've ever done it before on any other vehicles. I haven't specifically looked for the plugs yet, but the engine compartment doesn't look too cramped, IMO.
Good luck though, and like goaterguy mentioned, you probably won't have to do it for a while, unless you've got some serious miles on your JK!

Used to be a tune-up meant some work over cold beer(s) on a Saturday afternoon, e.g. points, condenser, new plugs and wires, distributor cap, set the timing, add distilled water to the battery, etc.
Not anymore.

Ha.....that's funny. I was working on an old forklift that had an engine rebuilt. The mechanic that was doing mostly all the work had never seen points before. So this old man (me) had to show him how to set them.....
There are a number of maintenance how to's that have helped me at this link:

I am not one of them but there are a number of really great mechanics on this site, you have some of them reminiscing about older ignition systems in your thread, that have posted how to's in the write-up section. The advanced search box will become your friend. Enjoy.
