The FRAM will cure what ails 'ya....... your anti-drainback valve in your filter is letting the filter empty out between starts. The Fram will cure it.:D

this is usually due to the anti-drain back valve on the oil filter. Try switching oil filter brands. I always runa Wix filter and have never had this issue
I got on to WIX filters during my early years when I worked on a pit crew for a Funny Car. We always used WIX and they held up. |

Mine has always done it if its left for more than 12 hours. I had a brain fart and thought it might be cause by a hydraulic lifter bleeding down. Goes away after a few seconds and some new oil pumped into the lifter???? Are they even hydro lifters in the 3.8?

Go figure, I use the best motor oil (Royal Purple) and oil filter (K&N) the engine knocks at start up (5 oil changes). I just switched to Valvoline synthetic with a mopar oil filter it stops!:dontknow2::thinking:
What the heck? |
Mine does it, I started another thread on here awhile back and tried about 6 filters thinking it was the Anti-drain back.. While some filters did the ticking worse then others, I finally narrowed it down to temperature thing. Any temperature in the low 30's after sitting overnight and I get the ticking.
When its above 35F it wont get the ticking and I have let it sit 3-4 days before. Strange issue..I have a feeling they all do it, but most just doesn't notice it, live in warmer climate or have heated garages. I don't have any type of knocking only the ticking. Found this video on youtube of the sound - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cr9-UgiCE2g |
