For the steering clunk, if you mean you changes the part that has 2 universal joints on it (the column itself), I had mine changed at every 20000 Km. Had 2 JKs and same on both... Seems it does not like being heated by the nearby manifold. I do a lot of traffic at crawling speed (about 1.5 hours a day) so it "cooks" the sterring column

I'll have to crawl under there to check out my heat shield as well. Now that the top and doors are starting to come off, I've started hearing some more funny noises from the nether regions. One of which is a funny buzz at a certain RPM
