Default My JK is melting

Can anyone tell me if they have had issues with weather stripping adhesive melting and the seals on the top melting as well, i have 4dr blk hard top, and the first time i noticed this was in may , ( a week after i purchased) I left it park while i was in florida for a week, when i returned i heard air and smelled like something was burning, i took it to the shop when i finally realized what it was, and they didn't replace the weather stripping but applied mor adhesive. Now it is doing it again , and i have adhesive in different places on my passenger side and whenever the roof is removed i get this long "taffy like" string of adhesive, any suggestions?

Its not the weather strip melting, it the sealent for the front windshield weather strip. There is a TSB on this and requires them to clean up the access sealent. I did it myself with alittle WD-40.

There was a TSB about this ... The Butyl Adhesive was overdone at the factory. I had the same problem with my 2 door around the top of the door panels where the rubber seals on the windshield are. Made a freaking mess when I went to clean it up -- had to use bug and tar remover. I fixed it myself -- but print out this TSB and take it to your dealer:

Hope that helps!

I was unaware this was a TSB, until now. I had the same problem on the passenger side. Quite a bit came out, but cleaned up with a little effort using auto goo gone as suggested by the dealer.

Yea, there is no real reason to let the dealer do this, takes no more than 5 minutes to do.

Yeah no kidding. It was WAY overdone. The third day I got mine off the lot a friend shut the passenger side door and the crap literally splatted in a 4" diameter where the top left of the door meets the top left of the windshield.

Took some major scrubbing to get it off.

This happened to me too. But instead of putting the panel in the garage, I put it in the back! After 10 minutes of cleaning the carpet, it only took about 5 minutes to clean the excess from the roof. Moral of the story: don't be a dumb @ss!
