Probably a stupid question...

All the discussions about mygigs talk about 09 and earlier. The 2010 seems to have a very similar thing but looks like it is called a 730N.

Is the 730N just the 'marketing' name for the mygig? (real question: do the 2009 mygig navigation units work in 2010 unlimiteds, I have the cd player/sat radio that I'm interested in replacing)

 

Yeah. It was MYGIG in 07/08 then they renamed it Uconnect in 09 (yes very confusing) And now it is 730N. Pretty much the exact same thing but the hard drive size changed from 07 to 08. and various other small tweaks such as ipod control in 09.

 

I believe they added the bluetooth through Uconnect in the 2010 as well. When I was buying mine, the dealers kept telling me that bluetooth was not available in the Wranglers. Idiots!!!

What aggravates me about the whole system is that the 30gb hard drives only gives you 16gb for music. The rest is used for the NAV data. Very misleading!!

 

Yep, they're the same units. As mpkelley mentioned, the 07-09 MyGig required a $40 mic kit to get the UConnect working, the 2010 Wranglers come with a mic already installed and UConnect working out of the box. If you decided to add a MyGig to a 2010 without it, you can still get the same $40 mic kit and turn the UConnect on yourself.
