Default Need Engine Help with 2007 JK

I have a 2007 Unlimited Rubicon that I swamped out over memorial day weekend. It's hydro-locked and sitting at my local dealer. For what they're going to charge me to get it running again, I can buy a "new" stock engine and transmission from AEV for less then half. I'm looking for something as close to a "plug and play" situation as possible. Will an engine and tranny from a 2010 JK work in a 2007? I know the block is the same... A jeep mechanic in Seattle told me if I use my existing wire harness I shouldn't have any trouble... I also have access to a 2009 model engine... Any experience out there?

HELP

Default JK 2007-2010 Engine Compatibility...

Does anyone know if I can "drop in" an Engine AND transmission from a 2010 JK Rubicon into my 2007? (keeping original '07 wire harness). My local dealers can't say for certain but think I shouldn't have any prblems.... I need to know with 100% certainty before moving forward...

Plan-B is to have my existing '07 engine (with 50k miles) remanufactured.......but at a higher cost...

Thanks

Derrick

try posting this up in the modified and xtreme modified threads as well and you might get more hits perhaps....people are always doing engine swaps and whatnot in that category rather than in the stock jeep portion of the forum...hope you get an answer to save some money....

your insurance company will cover this. Have you called them?
