New found affection for my Jeep!
Glad every thing turned out all right.
As an after thought, by turning left i assume you were now in the opposing lane.
If by chance she had recovered her vehicle and hit you in her lane you are now at fault for driving in the wrong lane.
I would always choose to go right unless there was a tree or a cliff in that direction.

I understand your concern, and appreciate the thought. With this thread I simply wanted to throw the incident out there and express how impressed I was with a virtual brick on wheels, with a high centre of gravity, handling an emergency evasive action such as this in such an impressive way.
Everything that happened that night would have lead to a completely different outcome if even one small factor had been even slightly different. Yes, I was in the opposing lane for a short amount of time. If there had been another vehicle coming from that direction the left turn would not have been made. If not for being able to make the left it would have ended with a head on collision, or with me steering into an 8ft embankment covered with trees at 45mph... wouldn't have been pretty. Trust me, she wasn't recovering from that slide, I could tell that as soon as she swirved. It looked like she was driving on ice the way that car was moving. She was doing every bit of 50 mph, down hill, on a wet road, and in an old car with well aged road tires. Yes, I looked at her tires while emergency services were sorting out the scene. I can't stress enough just how short a space this all happened in and considering everything I'm glad my instinct, reflexes, or whatever you want to call it, reacted the way they did. Most of all I'm glad the Jeep handled the way it did!

Well done!
I have never maneuvered a JK in emergency mode and hope to never have to but I have jerked a CJ around to avoid collision. The CJ incident was an example of extreme body roll but it stayed upright. I can appreciate your praise for the vehicle but the fact is you were driving it; don't discount your situational awareness, swiftness of mind/body and avoiding panic.
