Question Newbie Tire Question and Advice

After reading as much as I can on tires on this great board, I'm confused so I figured the easiest thing to do was give all you veteran Jeep owners a chance to help me out.

I have a new 08 Unlimited X 4x4 with the 24S package. Right now the tires I have on it are the stock tires (P255/75R17 with the 17 inch aluminum wheels.

This is my goal. I would like a set of all terrain tires that would fit on the current wheels, make the jeep look a little better, cause with the stock tires it looks a little anemic, as well as having good functional all terrain tires I could go off road with and still drive comfortably on the highway.

Assume price is no object. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help in advance.

You can buy any A/T tires, the BFG AT KO are good tires and there are several good tires such as Nittos Terra Grappler, Bridgestone Revo, Goodyear Silentarmor, etc. As for size, you can go with a slightly larger size (up to 33") without much rubbing with the swaybar connected. Any bigger and you will need a lift.

Don't know what gears you're running, but keep in mind the bigger you go, the more power you loose. That also holds true for wider also.

If you like the looks of these, greasemonkey85 (red rock JK below) has a set of 5 33" tires with 5000 miles on them he was looking to sell for a pretty good price. If you are interested pm him, he is located in Reading PA.

This is true. You can actually get a set of tires AND rims someone pulled of their Rubicon cheaper than you will get a set of new tires.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to go with the stock Rubicon tires. Either I'll find a place that will take my stock Unlimiteds in for some credit and make my life easy. Or i contact a few of my auto shop clients and see if they will take them off my hands.
