Post No reverse, shifting problems.

I had my JK TSB flash almost a week ago, no real improvement noticed. Today the wife was driving home and said that it would not shift into 3rd or 4th gear correctly, like it was going into neutral:confused: .... I went to take it for a test drive and there is no reverse ! Anyone had similiar experiences?

I noticed this exact behavior on a pre-TSB flash automatic I test drove. The automatic I purchased has not exhibited this at all. I believe it is a later build as I purchased it at the end of December right off the truck.

The dealer is rebuilding my automatic transmission on my 2007 Jeep Wrangler X right now. Said a broken clip inside was making it shift badly

Default rebuilding?!

Rebuildling?! on a BRAND NEW CAR (jeep)?!

I would say 'new tranny' or nothing...

I don't want anything rebuilt, I want it new and working.

God I hope by 2009 all this crap is fixed for my JK!

just to add another data point...

i also had shifting problems on an auto unlimited x that started around 1500mi on the odometer. the problem started out slowly, occasionally slipping like it was in neutral, and gradually got worse with erratic shifting, lurching when it downshifted into first, and then eventually losing 3rd and 4th gears. it threw a couple of codes indicating problems with the TCM, incorrect gear ratio, etc at that point.

spent a long time at the dealership for diagnosis. they took the entire transmission apart and ended up having to replace the valve body. so far it has been working fine since, but i'll continue to be leary of it until i've put on a couple thousand miles more without any issues.

i was hoping my problems were a fluke, but now i'm thinking there may be a trend with auto tranny problems. there are a few other threads on this board as well as other boards that indicate other people having auto tranny problems.

good luck with your jeep. let us know how it turns out. i'll be interested to hear what the specific problem is with your transmission.

Today's update..... 2 weeks later....... after pulling the tranny apart, the dealer has found massive internal failure. Luckily, the damage is sufficient enough for DC to authorize a brand new transmission (no fixing here). Hopefully have it back by the end of the week... how long has it been in the shop now?

No problems at all....... until it shifted weird for the wife and then no reverse when I went for a test drive. I'd say that is pretty wierd, but I suppose it's possible something let loose when she was driving, and it just ate up the insides.
