Default No shock bushing

for awhile now my jeep has been clicking whenever i go over bumps. yesterday my freind came over and i figured out what it was. the bushing between the top bolt on the shock and the shock mount was gone on both front shocks. so the shock moved about an inch in the mount. i took it to the shop and left it there, then they call me and tell me that i need new shocks, and it will take about 3 weeks for them to get them.

i just thought it was kinda weird that both bushing fell out of the front at the same time??? but i cant wait to get rid of the damn clicking!

I bashed the bushings out of my shocks going over whoop-de-do's too fast. The clacking sound drove me crazy until I figured out what it was. Shocks were replaced under warranty.

I think I have this same problem - it showed up yesterday right after hitting a rock crossing a creek bed. It is on both sides and sounds like what yall are describing. I tried to get a pic of the top of the shock tower with the bushing and bolt on top; hopefully it comes through (this is my first post).

Only thing is, it looks like there is still a bushing on the top. Not being too familiar with my suspension yet (I have only had her for three weeks), I can't tell if this is the case. There appears to be a round spacer up top, but it is much smaller in diameter than the one on the bottom. Is this at all what yours looked like? Also, is it safe to drive for the time being assuming that I keep it on the road? Any help is much appreciated.

Whoop-de-do's... don't believe I've ever heard of those? What are they?

Haha. Nope never heard of em. I know what they are now but never heard them called that. It's amazing what random facts you learn on jk-forum

Had same exact issue with 6K on jeep.

Although I think it was left out from Toledo. The left upper bushing was gone. The bolt and washer were there fine but, not the upper bushing.

The dealer was going to replace it under warranty (its about a 3 second job) but, I just went ahead and replaced all the shocks with the Rancho's and new Steering Stabilizer w/ relocation kit.

I thought the OEM ones were poop anyway with the 1.75 lift.

Three weeks to fix? Are you serious? The dealer should replace the bushings or the shocks and get it back to you in a day. I would find another dealer to do the work for you. That is crazy.

Everyone who's experienced/experiencing this problem should search the forum about it. This has been around for at least six months now, and there are several threads about it.

Bottom line: After-market shocks may not be the answer--there have been failures there, too. There is a supplier out there who supplies the shock bushings for lots of manufacturers, and their bad product is taking quite a few months to work its way throughout the supply chain. After-market bushings from a reputable bushing manufacturer seem to be the answer.
