OBD Jscan App Functionality & Writeups

Many are finding great functionality within the Jscan app for our JKs. On top of being a cost-efficient programmer and dynamic diagnostic tool, the app is proving to be useful with several things with which owners previously did not have tools at their disposal. I take zero credit for the writeups or linked threads in this sticky, but it seemed like a good idea to create a place where information can be consolidated for the future benefit of Jscan users. This post can be updated by any mod with links to new writeups as people document their uses/experiences. If anyone is able to do a simple write-up for additional functions, by all means please do! It's a great way to give back to the community! :2thumbs:

I recently started using Jscan. When I tried to get a license, I found that the Google Play Store did not play well with my tablet for some reason. I ended up not being able to purchase a license directly on that device. I later found out, that when you purchase a license, it puts a token on your device & that token is transferable. I eventually got an apple device to purchase a license & then transferred that token to an Android tablet. A token can be transferred from one device to another before or after it is bound to a specific VIN. The token can be found under the section of Jscan that manages licenses.

I also found that pricing is different in the apple store & the Google store. In Google, 1 license is $25 & 3 are $50. I forget how much it was for 5 & 10 licenses. In apple, 1 license was $21 & 3 was like $54. The price differences seem odd.

It's good to know it's easily transferable to a different device. Guess that is almost a requirement as people change phones every few years. The price difference between Android and iOS is actually a very normal thing. Apple has more stringent policy and testing which makes more work for developers to get their apps on iOS than on the Play store. I only play 1 phone game but I see the same thing on that as well. In-game purchases cost a bit more on iOS than on Android.

On my 2012 sport JK, traction control can be turned on or off with a button that came from the factory, unless you are in 4-low. In 4-low, traction control is disabled. Does anyone know of a way to use Jscan to enable the button in 4-low? It might save me from needing to buy a locker. I'm getting ready to do a gear change in the diffs, & I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the extra money for a locker or not.

I agree with you completely—the Jscan app has been a real game changer for JK owners, offering features and diagnostic capabilities that were previously out of reach without expensive tools. The community-driven writeups are incredibly valuable too, since they not only highlight practical use cases but also save others from trial-and-error. It’s a reminder that the right technology can deliver real-world benefits when designed with the user in mind. Cost Savings in the Long Run – While hiring developers has an upfront cost, custom automation and optimized software reduce labor expenses, mistakes, and downtime over time, and that’s exactly why some businesses choose to hire offshore developer at Lemon.io when they want scalable, efficient solutions built with practical needs in mind.

Outstanding thread. BTW.. Jscan works same on the JT Gladiators; and probably JLs. Use on our Gladiators.
