For me personally I was using the K&N filter when i first notice the dry starts, the next oil change I went with a Mobil1 filter, still a dry start. I believe I read on this forum about some members using Fram's with good results. I bought a Fram right away and changed out the filter with the Mobil 1. The dry start's were gone with my rig, even if the motor sat maybe 3 to 5 days between uses at times.

If you look at the box the filter came, your looking for a filter with a check valve. Keeps the oil from running out of the filter back into the oil pan. I use the fram TH3614. A little more expensive, but better than the start up rattle to me.

Every canister filter made has an anti-drainback valve, however some are better than others.
Here is a retty good filter comparison study that has been around for a long time., and is very concise.

I've posted this on other threads here so forgive the broken record sound if you seen me post this before. When it's really cold or the Jeep has been sitting for a few days without being started, I hold the accelerator to the floor and turn the key over and let the motor crank for a few seconds. the ECU will not allow the engine to fire because it sees that the accelerator is floored. but because you are turning the motor over your giving it a chance to prime the lifters before it actually fires up. I then release the gas pedal and crank it normally and it fires up with no dry start. just something to try if multiple filters are still giving you dry starts

I tried this today and still after starting the noise was there, so maybe it isnt a dry start but maybe something loose and rattling? and ive only used 2 filters the Mopar filter when I first bought it and K&N ever since. and usually its not for sitting long just over night or if I i dont go anywhere for a while like maybe 9-10 hrs of sitting. Tomorrow when I get home from work and let it sit while I sleep Ill try and get a video so you guys can hear it maybe that will help alittle more.

I was gonna write a thread about this myself. Started up my 2011 and didn't really let her warm up more than 30 or 45 sec. when I noticed the street light turn green so I floored it outta the spot...by the time i got to the corner it was turning red. (Fast light with RL camera at end of my street) now I sat for 10min till light changed and now pissed I floored it again...got halfway down the street and noticed my rpms way high so I let off and was wondering wtf happun! I pull over and hear a ticking/tapping sound. I only have 30000 miles on it and have done oil changes every 5 or 6000mi.
