My OEM part was screwed-shot because of exposed rod chipped by minor road rash from the same small stuff that hazes the windsheild. Old Man Emu was the best priced replacement that had a rod protecting boot.
And for the nay sayers......This suspension configuration needs one installed for daily driving. IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE THEY THREW IN JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT? Like footwell lights?
Regardless, just replace it but make sure you get one with the polished rod covered. THEY DIDN'T PUT A COVER ON THE ORIGINAL. It will fail. You will know when it does. You will save a lot of time and money by not looking at other suspension part failures.
What do I know....bought a brand new Kawasaki 500 triple 2 stroker back in '73. It came with a steering damper/stabilizer....I sure as he.l knew when it failed and same sh.t different day when one went out in my 89 YJ
