Default Overdrive Problem

Hey all, new jk owner from Washington state here.

Quick question. I bought an 08 JK, auto a couple weeks ago.

Apparently the O/D button isn't working. I can press it all day long, nothing lights up and it stays in the same gear.

Where would be the first place one would look to resolve this problem?

I bought the extended warranty when i purchased the vehicle. Do you think this is something they would fix even though it wasn't working when I purchased it?

Thanks.

First, welcome to JK-Forum! I would definitely take it back in to have them take a look at it...only thing I could think of as something to check is such a PITA I wouldn't even bother and that's start with the simple things like a disconnected wire to the OD button (my assumption is it was bought used and previous owner could have removed the column and inadvertently pulled the wire out). The reason I wouldn't bother to check that is 1. you just bought it so it should have some coverage especially if you bought an extended warranty and 2. it's really a PITA to get to the switch. Just my

How do they know it wasn't working whenever ya bought it? That's the route I'd take!

Thanks for your responses.

I'm wondering if the previous owner didn't get back there and do something. I noticed that the aux power port isn't working either. Fuse is good. I'm sure the wires are in the same area. When I was wiring in my CB, I found a food menu shoved way up under the dash. Would have tried ordering something, but it's from a joint in Hawaii. lol

I'll call the service tech on monday and see about getting it in.

Thanks again for the help.

The dashes are notorious for "eating" things (see that huge gap between the dash and windshield) and things fall out of the back of the glove box, too.

I read somewhere on the forum that someone had pulled off the shifter cowl to do something and afterwards the OD would not work. Turned out to be a the connection under the shifter cowl had disconnected from the OD button. You could look under there.

If you paid for a warranty I think you might as well use it and welcome to the best forum I have ever found on the web.
