Default Park To Drive or Reverse.......Squeak

Bought my daughter a 2014 Sahara auto.
Whenever she starts the Jeep and shifts into D or R it sounds like either the drive line or the rear brakes are squeaking.
I can't compare it to mine cause I have a stick.
Anyone else experience this?

hard to say without being there but yeah sounds like a brake issue. to rule it out put the tranny in neutral and without your foot on the brake go into either revers or drive and see if it makes noise

Check rear brakes. Or back ebrake shoes are sticking.

Probably the brakes. But...it seems many have this squeak/groan. Besides mine that does it, I've been watching a bunch of exhaust vids and hear that same squeak. Think it's just a result of cold brakes and the higher idle when cold and light foot pressure on the brake pedal.

Does it sound more like a groan? I have a 2012 auto, done that since new. Everything works fine, still looking into it but haven't paid much attention to it.

Just curious, I think I've only heard this on the Auto's.

X2. My 2012 auto JKU has always groaned when putting into reverse since purchased new. Also never thought twice about it.

Yeah, it's like a groan.
It's my daughter's College grad gift so it's her baby.
My other Daughter has a 13 JKU auto and she's totally oblivious to any noises.
Complete opposites. Lol!
