Default Pitman Arm removal

Holy Crap! Any one trying to have do their own lift, i would suggest do everything yourself and locate a mechanic remove this. I went at it for 3hrs with my impact wrench and a BFH.... nothing. Just a slight move, about 1/16". Took it to a small shop and they went through two air impact wrenches before they went and pulled out the 1400# wrench. Thennnnnnnn it finally came out in 3 seconds.

I could still hear the banging of the pitman arm with the hammer in my head... three hours of hammering!

Did you spray it with penetrating oil at least a little while before you attempted to remove the pitman arm?

yea, the night before I got under there and sprayed every bolt I was going to remove. Heard some ppl got it off with just a BFH, but this one was a nightmare.

Had the same problem when installing my lift. I rented the pitman puller from autozone (the $90 one) ended up breaking it and still didnt get the pitman arm off (luckily autozone didnt notice). I sprayed it with penetrating lube, used a blowtorch and a BFH. still didnt get the damn thing off. l ended up giving up and ordering an adj trackbar

Northridge 4x4 website is down right now, but i found the kit on Project-Jk, but i didnt see anything that addresses the steering, maybe im missing something. Dont take my hard time with this pitman arm as the standard, it seems ppl have an easier time than i did. mine just really sucked to remove.

Search Drop Pitman arm (thats what mine kit with) vs a High Steer drag link. its about $175 from *******, but there are better options than using a drop pitman arm. seems ppl around here dont prefer it.
