Plastic air dam

I was just wondering how many of you run the plastic air dam? When I got my lift and 35's I tore mine off. I was getting 17-18 move now 14 or less. I know it would get screwed up wheeling but I'm wondering if I should have left it on for the streets only? Or say "f" it

Mine tore off the first time I went wheeling. I re-attached it, fell off again, so I burned it and never looked back.

If your rig is a DD. And you can keep the dam on, keep it. If you can't keep it on, "F" it. Simple.

I definitely run it -- but my JK is basically all street, mostly stock, and I am a stickler for mileage. :)

I never did run mine when I had the stock bumper. Maybe the change in weather/ use of winter gas is your issue? None of the aftermarket bumpers have air dams and I still get the same gas milage.

I replaced mine when I put my bumper on... my mileage dropped to 14 mpg. I am putting it back on this weekend over the aftermarket skid to see what happens. I'll engineer a way that I can easily remove it before going out on the trail (maybe drill a few holes in the skid and attach it that way).

I'll let you know if I see any improvement.

Cool. Let me know what you come up with for mounting a quick removal for the trail. I got frustrated when removing Mine and ended up tearing it off so the original fasteners is not an option. Just curious what ya come up with if I do decide to run it again

It definitely could be gas too. Ohio has some of the worst gas in the USA as well. @3.90/gallon gas should be liquid gold and smell like flowers.

I saw about a 1mpg drop in mileage with mine off...

Local auto parts places usually sell the plastic push-pin hardware that secure the air dams. There are different styles - some more easily removed than others.

Another option, if you wanted to get fancy would be quarter turn dzus fasteners.

Try 4.30 a gallon for regular gas!

Mine is almost ripped off but still hanging also helps keep all thus junk out of the engine
