I am curious too, do the issues arise more with off-roading or daily driving. I would like to see added the off-road frequency associated with the miles and "Jeep things". Does off-roading add to the issues or decrease due to parts turnover. I read where women who have breast implants have fewer instances of breast cancer. Due to the fact the frequent the doctor more and can prevent or catch it early on. So tricked out Jeeps could be preventing parts failures since it is getting looked over more often??

No Problems at 34k
34,000km. No issues or warranty work yet. Change oil at 5000km using brand name 5W-30 and premium oil filters. No oil burn, no startup knock. My driving is mixed city/hwy. Fuel mileage is 18.1 mpg (US) over the life of the vehicle so far. Auto and 3.73's, no annoyances, rattles, etc. yet - only mod is a CB radio.
I'm only familiar with the apparent 3.8 oil burning issue via this forum. If I were a Chrysler engineer tasked with determining an oil problem via these posts it would be very difficult. If I run into this problem I'll be changing out my PCV valve - I can't really see anything else...
Valve deposits over time are also a possibility but not for low mileage units. I use brand name gasolines which claim to prevent this.
Startup oil knock...I can see the backflow preventor on a lower quality oil filter as a culprit here and so I spend the extra couple of bucks every 5000k.
Not defending Chrysler and not saying the problems aren't real but for me driving decent and doing maintenance are part of loving my Jeep.

2007 JKUX - 117 k miles. Nothing done since early stall bug days except front crank seal which seems to have cut back on oil loss issue. I have run mobil 1 synthetic since new. There are always minor annoyances, but at nearly 5 years and 117K miles I can say its been a good vehicle. It's mainly a daily driver.

I have a 07, build date was late 06. I have 90k+ on it and I burn about a quart of oil every few months. I change it regularly and use it mostly for daily driving.

2008 4wd unlimited...all stock...no problems at 113k, except that I had the fuel inlet burping when I filled up with gas, but replaced under warranty. Sometimes down 1/3~1/2 quart of oil between oil changes 4000-5000 miles apart......but not always.

08 JKU 6-speed. 41,600 miles with no problems. I use Penzoil Platinum 5w-30 and change oil about every 5,000 miles. Uses about 1qt in between oil changes. This jeep is not babied. It spends a lot of time bouncing around the NV desert.
