Check the cord and make sure that it is connected (good connection). This could be it.

connection good looked at it and book didnt help tried everything..must be defective mechanism..... grr

went to dealer "latch no good" ordering it ive used the tailgate maybe 10 times in 2500 miles and had it less than 2 months and its broken already .... definately didnt buy this for the workmanship......
