Default Power window issues.

Has anyone else had issues with their power windows bugging out on them? I know Jeeps shouldn't have power windows and locks, but I lucked out from the dealer and got them cheap. Sometimes mine just bug out and won't roll up or down. Roll half way down then stop. Take off on their own later. It's random. Any fixes? Or just one of those things you have to live with while owning a JK?

maybe check the Door connector plug to make sure they are latched in tight under the dash.. Ive had random issues with doors, locks, and dome lights if I didnt get that connector plugged back in till it snaps when putting my doors back on..

otherwise id say it could be a TIPM issue.. that is ultimately what controls the windows.

I thought it might be the connector issue, but I have checked it several times. It's clean and snapped into place firmly. If I stop, shut the Jeep off, then crank it up and take off it usually goes back to working just fine. So, maybe it is something with TIPM

Had this once in my 2012. I googled it and found that if I just stop, turn off the Jeep and then back on it will re-set. And it did. Didn't find any other magical solution, just the re-set option. Haven't had the issue after this one time.

If it's quite often for you, I would think about making a appt. with the dealer or just plain call them and see what they have to say.

Our 2012 does the same. Turn the Jeep of and back on again sort of fix it, but it is a pain to do. The auto down function on the passenger side failed twice so far.Switch got replaced for the second time last week.

For those whose windows quit until the JK is shut off and turned back on...

There is a circuit breaker (CB 1) in the TIPM for the power windows. If the windows draw too much amperage the breaker will trip, and stay tripped until the JK is shut off. Once turned back on, the breaker will allow power to go to the windows until too much amperage is drawn again.

I wonder why the window would all of a sudden start pulling so many amps?

Sometimes they get hard to move.
After dark, see if the headlights dim a lot when you run one of the windows.
Mine barely dim at all when I run two at a time.

They dim hard whenever I am running all my lights and try rolling them up or down, but this usually only happens during the day. Not at night when I am pulling lots of amps from the battery.

I would have the battery checked for a bad cell. I can run all four window without dimming my lights. If they do dim at all they brighten back up after the initial switch movement.
