Just my .02 on torque sticks, they are not accurate. There are variables such as the CFM of the air line that the gun is hooked up too, the gun itself, some are weaker, some are stronger, and what pressure the compressor is set at.
I'm a mechanic, and have been for about 15 years, and when those things came out, my boss bought a set and required us to use them on every car putting on the wheels. He was a big believer in them until i showed him that my gun puts them on harder than his old ass 1970's gun, his was actually to loose when checked with a torque wrench. Needless to say, he doesn't require us to use them anymore. If someone knows their gun, they won't put lugs on too hard.
And the chrysler capped nuts have been coming apart like that for at least the twenty years they've been using them. The chromed solid ones from the aftermarket rust and chip over time, personally I wouldn't use them. Just replace them when you notice the caps coming loose. Usually they start to rust underneath the cap and swell or the cap loosens up.

Use a true 19mm socket and breaker bar and your lug nut covers will last a long, long time. Any 4 way lug wrench is not worth a darn on 2 piece lug nuts.

It is a problem especially when an impact wrench is used to remove and tighten the lug nuts. You may just want to buy a set of good replacement lug nuts to avoid having the problem of the outer shell coming off on the renaming lug nuts.
