Question Problems after tinting driver/passenger windows

I had my driver and passenger side windows professionally tinted this week. I have power windows in my JK Rubi.

I waited for 48 hours before attempting to roll down the windows and now I am experiencing major 'squeekage' and a major lag in the time it takes the window to roll up. I cleaned the window tint just to make sure any residual film was removed and during the last test rolling up the window it would not completely roll up.

Am curious if anyone has experienced anything similar after tinting their windows. I do plan to go back to the installer and get their opinion but welcome any shared experiences.

Thanks in advance!

JB

Honesty I don't know if the windows slowed down with tint but I definitely do not get a squeak. Wonder how the tint could cause that? Maybe even the weather plays a role.

It is cold around here, much more so that normal. The cleaning 'helped' the squeek, but the fact that the motor could not roll up the window completely has me bothered just a bit.

One of the first phone calls I am placing tomorrow to the installer! I assume you have no troubles then?

Thanks for the response.

Yep, contact the tint company. Timing out the motor or too much load going through it tripping the circuit breaker.

I pretty much have ocd so I would have noticed if something were off. Windows roll up and down just fine. Hope this helps.

It does, thanks! Let's me know it is not necessarily something with the Jeep at large.

I thought it was 3 days dry time, in the sun preferably. the cold may make it longer.

Try cleaning the upper edge of the glass, when I had mine tinted I got a little squeak for a few days until I cleaned everything real good. The solution used in the application process will leave a sticky residue on the surfaces.

Check the rubber wiper that fills the gap between the door and the glass on the inside. It is not uncommon to tuck the wiper down when tinting and every now and then they will fail to pop up when the window is rolled all the way down and back up. This will cause what you are describing, you can compair the wiper gaskets on the front doors to the rear and tell if that is your problem.

Also check the rubbers going around the window frame. If the window isn't going all the way up, maybe the rubber isn't in it's channel all the way.
