Default Pull The Carpet

I am debating wether or not to pull all the carpet out. Has anyone done this? Is there any downside to it?

Pulled mine. Pulled mine with my TJ few days after I got it also. The only negative I saw with it was the floor mats I was using would grind away the paint under them eventually from sand getting between them. I had planned on LineX ing anyway so it wasn't a big deal. JK paint coverage is bad it definitely won't make a difference.

I haven't tried this (yet) but have read several other threads on this, and others have said that insulation and NVH suffer a bit when you take out the carpet. So, if heat/cold from outside the Jeep and/or extra noise will bother you, leave the carpet in.

I did Durabak in our TJ's, its a spray on, or you can roll it. Spraying makes it look professional. its about $100.oo a gallon. A gallon will do the tub easily, with atleast two coats.

I like the no, carpet in the TJ. but for road noise. I wont be taking it out of the JK until it's trashed
