Default question on brakes

I just purchased some rear brake pads. They look small. I double checked the serial number and they are the right ones. My question is, are the front pads bigger than the rear ones? Would that be the reason the rear pads wear out first? Thanks for any feedback.

you should be wearing out your front brakes before you do your rears. but yes the rear are smaller. and i say wearing out your fronts first because i beleive you use more of your fronts for stopping. some one tell me if i'm wrong but i think its a 60/40 proportioning valve (60 front/ 40 rear). the only thing i can think of that would wear the rears is the esp apply brake to the rears when a wheel slips in 2wd.

More like 80/20 but your all good. My rear pads went at 18000 then 31000, still working on the stock front set but i didn't learn to turn off the esp correctly while off roading until my 2nd set of rears. Live and learn....
