Default Rain X

Hi All-

I did a search and didn't see anything so i figured I would pick all of your minds. Has anyone tried Rain X on the plastic windows? If so, is it recommended or not?

Thanks for your help.

Well, I did not know the answer, so I went and looked on the bottle of rain X. It said do not use on Plastic unless approved by the mfg.
I used a silcone based product for window tint on my TJ's windows. I also have used Pledge.

thanks for the answer. That is something I wouldn't have expected. Pledge it is!

Thanks again.

Default Do Not use Pledge!

You certainly don't want to use Pledge. It will yellow your windows. I followed this advise with my old YJ and had yellow windows. It hid the scratches and I didn't care because this was a Jeep that I would drive through the brush without caring....

You should be using Bestop cleaner and protectant, Mopar, or 303 Protectant.

You also don't want to use anything with alchohol since it will tend to dry out the plastic by stripping the oils.

.....still haven't figured out how to keep from scratching these windows entirely, but Hey, it's a Jeep!

The cleaner is not meant for the windows it is meant for the top. All I do is use regular car wax on the windows it helps keep them from yellowing and the water just beads up and runs off.

I would try either rejex or plexus. Plexus is safe to use on acrylic and plastic and will not discolor.

Bot are available from many different places but these sites will give you some information on them.

I would be very careful using some of the products on the tinted windows they seem to make them look worse. The only thing that does really well that I have found is just a regular car wax. But those cleaners do work well for non tinted windows.

Thanks for the input. I just ordered a can of the Plexus. I will try it on a small area first and see. I will report back with a review when I get chance to use and critique it.

Thanks for the advice everyone.
