Rattle coming from?
I have a constant rattle or thumping when I go over rough spots in the road or any bumps at all and I can't figure out exactly where it's coming from. I have a '12 2 door with a hardtop. Anyone have the same thing going on? I don't remember my '07 being as loud. Could it be the tire carrier or lift gate glass rattling? I haven't had the chance to drive around without my hardtop yet.

First Thing i would try is put some electrical tape around the striker pin for the door. Then look at your freedom panels if you have a hard top, and lastly check the "trunk" for a loose jack or breaker Bar hitting each other. Just some simple things to try or at least eliminate from the check list!

Same boat here, i have one over my head to the left which i think is were the freedom top meets the hard top. once it warms up around here i will take it off and see. The other is inside the tailgate, probably the connecting rods of the latch.

I used to have a muffled rattle on my 07 when driving over bumps or poorly paved streets. Those noises drive me nuts so I chased that one until I found that it was the hard top that not properly seated. I loosened all hardtop bolts, wiggled it a bit to sit it well then started tightening the bolts on a cross-round pattern similar to when we tighten a wheel.
That took care of it. :-) |
