well sounded good.. Worth a try.. Thanks, Sam
Unfortunately I don't have the part numbers. DCX Customer Service (800 #) has told me twice that I should have the hood insulation blanket, the rubber bump stops and the cargo tie-down loops. In theory, they are supposed to send a file to my dealer so that these problems can be resolved, but that was weeks ago and the dealer still claims ignorance. I'm so fed up with the hood issue that I went an ordered the rubber bump stops (from another dealer.....$6.00) in an attempt to solve the problem. I'll be damned however, if I'm going to order the hood insulation since it is over $65.00. I will go out of my way to avoid spending any more money with DCX. BTW, if you have the hood lift issue, please take a minute to answer the questions posted by nota4re on the hood lift thread. He's an aftermarket manufacturer and is looking into possible solutions to this issue. Good luck with your dealer.....hope he is more responsive than mine

edit: oh yeah, the part numbers for the hood insulation and rubber bumpers are on the Sahara microfiche. Looking at the fiche for the X, they aren't there (even though my buildsheet says they should be) Hope this helps.

I have no ESP issues even with my 3" lift.

Paint missing? just a tab under the cowl. A good friend of mine owns a body shop. He says every vehicle made has paint issues. Its there if you look for it. the JK also has a 10 year rust warranty. In 10 years its going to be a trail rig..

My roof has never leaked, its a soft top.

I really think the issues are being worked out. For as many members as our site has, its really not a high number of guys having issues.

All new vehicles have issues. If you read the message boards on them. I'm sure something will come up.
Well said... I've posted quite a bit about the usual gripes, but thought about this a bit and really think I need to take another look at the positives. This my 1st new ride in some time and I suppose I thought it should be absolutely perfect. That's an unrealistic expectation and the "issues" I've had pale in comparison with the many things that I'm so delighted with.

I love my JK and I often find myself smiling just while driving it. This thing is fun!! The only other rig I enjoy almost as much is my '77 Land Cruiser (although it's not running not now), but I like the JK's modern technology and performance better (and that it runs). That's saying quite a bit, because I've been a long-time LC fanatic. The JK was the Jeep that sealed the deal and made me a Wrangler convert, although this is my 3rd Jeep. I'm so happy with it that I am selling that old Cruiser.

I have someone that will be moving to the PNW later this year, he has been a collector of old LC's. If you are serious about selling it I might be able to help you out.

Adventure, I'm with ya...I drive from west of Manassas to the Pentagon every day, luckily I'm on the road eastbound at 0400 and westbound at 1300, so no real traffic issues.

As far as the thread goes, I just got back from a weeks TDY to Hawaii, and I went outside and took the top down and went for a ride. My jeep's way of saying welcome home.

I love this vehicle and it's the third Jeep (1xCherokee and 1xWrangler SE) I've owned. I was stationed in Germany for 12 years, had BMW's, Merc's and VW's, and ALL of them had issues (BMW's were famous in Germany as "Blue Smokers" since the o-rings were notoriously bad and you'd end up filling up with oil every 2nd or 3rd fill up...I had a VW Golf go belly-up in the Russian controlled zone driving from Berlin. Had to have the Brits send a tow vehicle from West Germany while we entertained our russian "friends." I've had Merc's get squirrely on me as well.

I've also owned a bunch of other vehicles, US and imports. None were without quirks...But I can say without a doubt that nothing has been as much fun as both Wranglers. It's a whole new mindset when you're behind the wheel, whether heading to work or heading to find a new mudpatch. I'm not saying we should suck up the problem areas, they should be addressed. I'm just a happy JK owner who's looking forward to driving it!

After coming home from the dealership ELATED about possibly buying an '07 JK Unlimited.....after reading all of these issues, now I feel like I should just wait for the '08's to come out.....

I've read all of the responses that alot of cars have issues, but I don't want to drop that much money down on a car thats going to stall on me (I had this same issue with my current '05 Rubicon when I first bought it) and something that has playdough for material on the dashboard.

Now I just don't now what the hell to do...................sigh

i'm not having any of the problems people have brought up. my hood is nice and tight, my soft-top is leakless and quiet, my engine is great, my paint seems fine, over-all, i couldn't be more pleased.

i used to live in SE DC, and getting stuck in traffic with no top and doors is nice. it gives you a chance to work on your tan.

"My 90 VW Passat was the worst vehicle I've ever owned (German built) and my recent toyotas and hondas were all built here and are fantastic. I think it is corporate management philosophy rather than the guys on the factory floor."

As a line worker at a DCX plant, I can say without a doubt that the workers on the floor are committed to putting out a quality vehicle. (we know that our jobs are at stake here) Things get really frustrating when all you hear from management, when you try to point out a problem is "Ship it, they'll take care of it at the dealership" or some other crap like that.

That being said, I love my JK Rubi unlimited and would not trade it for the world. Took it in for the 1st oil change and had the torque converter TSB done (one shudder instance) at the same time, no need to replace the converter, and haven't had any problems. Build date 10-06
