Default Rear Axle Play?

Having a bit of play in the rear axle. Checked tmy control arms. They are all tight. Bushings good. Under hard turning, it feels like a slight shift in the axle like a bearing is loose or some thing. Figured it was time to get some chromo shafts with new bearings and all the fixn's, so I just installed them this weekend and still have the same issue.

Are you getting side to side or fore/aft play?

X3 on that one...also check the brackets and see if the bolt holes are worn or the brackets are cracked.

The play is side to side. Track bar Bushings and all the other usual suspects are checking out fine. Everything is pointing to the internals. I thought I read somewhere that it was a common issue. Anybody else experiencing anything similar?

Have you tried jacking the rear axle, and push-pull the wheels in and out? (Checking for play in the bearing/retainer.)

Don't completely discount it being something on the front end.

Yep. Tried it. That's what led to me replacing the shafts/ bearings/ retainer clips/ bearing retainers, ect. Seemed to be a slight bit of play before but nothing major. Same play exists now. It's one of those things on a jeep that is hard to replicate in the driveway. I seem to always get those types of issues.

How much movement are you getting? Some is "normal". Not much can be done about it.
