Default Rear brake issues!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2008 JKU with a RC 4in lift, SS braided brake lines, and 35's. The lift has only been on for 3K miles. At 25K I had to replace the rear brakes, I am guessing from the ESP. I turned that off! Now at 34K miles I wore out another set of brakes on the back. I guess I should clarify the driver's side was worn out while the passengers side is fine. Specifically it was the outside pad that was worn the most. When I replaced them this time I hit the pad ears with a file to make sure they are not getting stuck in the guides. I cleaned the guides and used caliper grease on them. I am still getting some dragging! WTF Jeep?

Has anyone else been having this problem? I have seen other issues with the rear brakes but nothing specifically like this. Thanks for any input from your experiences.:ga k::ga k::ga k:

Sounds like you made the right move, the caliper may have seized on the bracket. If you end up with the same issue, replace the caliper.

Its still draggin. I am going to go out and bleed the rear brakes and see if that clears it up. If not a new brake caliper is in my future.....

Isn't the E-brake a different set of linings?

I've heard it is good to flush the hydraulic system and replace the fluid every couple years to help prevent caliper piston seizing.

Yes the ebrake is a seperate set of linings inside the rear rotor/drum. This should have nothing to do with the OP's issue. sounds like the inside pad isn't moving. Are there not any S/S clips on the pad mounts?

I've yet to have the rear brakes apart on mine, some manufactures use the same pads for e brake too, and the ratcheting mechanism inside the caliper sticks. Like Subaru for example.

Yes there are S/S insert in the brake holder. They were cleaned and regreased. This was the same wear I encountered the first time I changed the brakes. Same side and everything. Seems to me it has something to do with the Calipers since I have changed everything else. The pins are perfect. They moved fine when I took it apart and I cleaned them and inspected them. Greased them back up and installed them. I just bled the rears and I am about to drive it to see if that helped. If not, I will be ordering a new caliper I suppose.

Question is does the caliper fall under the lifetime warranty? Specifically is it considered part of the drivetrain? I know brake pads are wearable parts so they clearly don't fit, but calipers generally are for the life to the vehicle.

I am assuming that you have the lifetime warranty because of the age of your joining the forum.

Just got off the phone with Jeep and the calipers are not covered under the lifetime drivetrain warranty. Nice!
