Default Rear tire light

Anyone change you're rear door light? (the one just above the tire) any mods that can be done to either eliminate it or just move it out of the way?

If your talking about your rear brake light, yes. I installed a Warrior Rear Deck Plate and 3rd Brake Light with License Plate Bracket and it works great. I relocated my license plate to the rear deck, and now the back is clean and no license plate off to one side. I had my Rear Plate and Light painted to match the Mango Tango OEM color. It looks like it was made that way from the factory. Total cost around $200.00

hey there...simon in ireland here...
i saw a silver JK in belfast last year...
haven't seen it since...
it had a very thin led brakelight on top of the tyre...
looked great...and i'm sure it was 'invisible' from inside...
the tyre hanger was aftermarket as was the bumper...
so it may have been part of a unit...
i've been looking for one meself...no luck yet.

This one (right above the license plate) is made by Off Road Only--David at Northridge carries them ...

It serves as both a third brake light and license plate light.

I have the Off ROad kit and it works fine. Actually, I like the motorcycle LED license plate bolts better than the Off Road light but it is done and license plate is no longer on side of jeep. I used a grinder to cut off the third brake light bracket that sticks up above the spare. I like it being gone and visibilty out back is better.

OK---Pics below---I wanted to use the after market adapters but it did not fit between the tire carrier and my tailgate so here was my solution.

Cut the 3rd brake light off at the height I needed
Lined up the third brake light to keep it straight and marked with a grease pencil(get a friend to help)
Drilled a few holes in the mounting bracket and new tire carrier
Used to sheet metal screws to attach.
Tapped into the wiring that originally ran to the 3rd Brake Light through the tailgate.
Taped and Shrink wrapped all wiring.
Ran under carpet and weather stripping and out at bottom right of tailgate
Put inside a wire keeper and mounted to the tire carrier.
total cost approx $15 including wires/connectors etc.

Depends on your state law. I know for a fact Illinois vehicle code requires only 1 working brake light.
