Default Rear Tire wear

Any help appreciated...just got 4 new tires on my 13 JKU that I've owned since new, replacing the lousy Coopers I had. Same size 285/70/17, road force balanced, and the REAR DRIVER side tire is scrubbing on the outer edge and only about 120 miles. All other tires are even and no signs of this on either side. All have 38psi dropped from 40 when it left the installer. Dealer did a free alignment check last month and said it was fine, and I didn't notice this wear previously. Been off road, but nothing extreme, just some easy, moderate trails.

Since the installer filled them to 40 I am going to assume they are E rated 33s. If your read through all the forum threads here you will find the general consensus is 28-32 ish PSI. I run mine at 31 front and 30 rear cold and have found that to work well.

Yep, basically you don't have the entire contact patch riding the road. Wider wheels or lower tire pressure will help out. I accept the poor tire wear (315mm tires on stock wheels with 34psi) in favor of gas mileage. You've got to draw the line somewhere and pick where you stand.
