Try Meguiar's #57 Marine/RV Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner and Protectant. I wipe it on the side of the hardtop with a small sponge, then take off the excess with a clean towel. Arizona pinstripes disappear until I go make some more. It also make the fenders look good for a while, too.

Also note, some new cars come with Self-Healing paint. It is super soft and if left in the sun for 4-5 hours will remove most swirls and mirco scratches itself. That paint is super delicate and would not reccoment polishing unless is done by a professional. It was on my Infiniti G37 coupe and have very mixed feelings on it. Though it was nice to have swirls and tiny scraches removed, I didnt like how soft it was.

Buy a White Jeep so you don't see them. That's what I did this time around. On my other Jeep the Meguiars process worked pretty good.

Another option would be to just get full trail armor and remove the doors.... Never have to worry about scratching your Jeep again !!!

I used to work for a company that reconditioned and prepped show cars. What scotty6336 said is pretty accurate. There's two ways to treat shallow scratches that only penetrate the clear coat. You can fill them in using a hand wax which doesn't really fix them, but just hides them. To really remove them you have to wet sand and buff using either a DA machine like a Porter Cable 7424 or a rotary polisher. How much clear you remove depends on how deep the scratch is. Just removing swirl marks from bad washing only takes off a few microns of paint, but chasing RIDS (deeper scratches) from tree branches etc. can chew up a lot more. A rotary polisher in the wrong hands can burn through a clear coat in a few seconds especially on creases or raised edges. A DA buffer like a Porter Cable is much safer and can work pretty well. Google the "Kevin Brown Method" for details on how to do this.

While I'm ready to do this, my wife is not gonna allow it just yet.
