Default Replacing Soft Top

Quick question.........2010 JKU with original top. Wind noise is increasing on highway, billows up at times where I can see daylight between bottom of top and top of door. Also, starting to notice water leaking occasionally when it rains hard. With these issues, should I replace the complete top (frame and fabric) or will just putting on newer, tight fabric help with these issues. Thanks for any help!

Sounds like the fabric has maybe stretched ever so slightly over the years. Especially if exposed to everyday/year to year temps of expansion and contraction. Since Bestop makes the Mopar tops, maybe give them a call. They can sell the fabric top and no hard wear. Or a newer redesigned top and it’s hard wear.

Another attempt may be for you to replace/add some type of foam/rubber tape in the areas of water entry. Best of luck. Keep us in touch with results and decision.

One other thought. When the jeep is parked. Maybe walk around and check the fabric’s “tautness”. Is it the fabric or could something be loose with the hard wear itself ?

luck

Thanks for the responses. It is an old top, so I'm certain the fabric has stretched. I just did not know whether fabric only would suffice or with it being 11 yrs old, if I needed to replace hardware as well. Guess I will try the cheaper version and go fabric only first.

You may also keep an eye on Craigslist in your area. I picked up a brand new take-off top for my Jeep a few years ago for $250. It included the surrounds and everything needed!

Hi, I'm not sure if you had replaced the fabric of your soft top but just in case if you are still on a look out. I thought it might help you find other options by reading this article.
