Default Rough shifting

Hey guys i've only had my jeep a few months now since summer... Now that the weather is getting colder i've noticed my jeep takes a while to shift in and out of gears smoothly, once warm its normal but I fear the grinding and popping out of gears is doing damage. Question is: has anyone changed to a synthetic fluid to help and if so, has it helped? What did u use? Any write ups on this?

Thanks for your help

what year is yours? I know the earlier models the inner shift boot would get cold and it wouldn't flex very well and they would pop out of gear. depending on the year I think there was a recall for that...

the grinding however, I'm guessing is most commonly between first and second gear changes? if that is the case mine does it as well but it goes away when its warm. switching to Pennzoil synchromesh seem to help a lot in the colder weather. mine is an 07 it's done it since the day I have owned it.
when it's really cold I find out if you push the clutch and delay your self for second before actually shifting gears that helps the most

I noticed the same problem with '12, I'm going to try the delay shift.

Great advice

My '12 had started popping out of 4th gear for some reason.. It's not shifting rough just pops out of gear. Think that's related?
