RUBI. vs. X
Just for everybodys information...the stock Rubi spring is the same part number (according to tags on springs) as the X with heavy duty suspension. Don't waste your time swapping them out. I almost did before a form member was nice enough to verify the part numbers on the tags.
For 2008, you can get the Rubi's D44 Tru-Loc rear axle, sway bar e-disco, same springs, same high pressure mono tube shocks on an X. Same size wheels...
The differences are really a better way of comparing. The X can't be ordered with the D44 front axle, the 4.10 gears and the ultra-low Rock-Trac 4:1 low range. If you want the Goodrich tires, you can buy those from the Tire Rack or Discount Tires Direct.
Jeep's website is a mess right now, I can't determine what options are available for the 2009 X.

Doesn't the Rubicon come standard with the electronic locking front/rear diffs and the electric swaybar disconnect? When I bought my 07 X, I thought those were standard on the Rubicon. I got the rear electric locker and swaybar disconnect as options on my X. I guess the only things different between my X and the Rubicon is the transfer case, tires and the front D44 w/ locker. I have the 4.10 gears, 17" wheel pkg, etc. I've added the Rubicon rocker guards and am planning on buying a set of the Rubicon tires.

I was just going to point this out, then I scrolled down further.

If you spec out an X with as much of the Rubi equipment as you can, you end up with a difference of right at $3000. For this you get 4.10 gears, D44 front, 4:1 t-case, sliders, and the BFG tires.
Just want check don't mean to hi jack, I just received my build sheet and to my suprise I have 4.10 in mine no tow package, automatic, d44, but it also says HD suspension with gas shocks, is that the same as rubicon minus the red color, or no.
My X had the same springs as some rubicon members, I looked up the part number on here and found people selling the same springs from their Rubicon.
nytruckee, in 2007 the 4.10s were an option on X's, wish I had the option on my 2008. Do you have a hardtop, maybe thats why you have the HD springs. And no they are not the same as the rubicon shocks.

I was thinking about the Rubicon vs the up-optioned X and realized that the X can offer a distinct advantage in one regard.
Rubicons have the electro-mag locker axles. If I recall accurately, you cannot lock the axles unless you are in 4-low range.
On the other hand, you can order the Trac-Loc limited slip D44 on the X (which I did). This provides provides better traction in 4-high range than the Rubi's essentially open rear axle.
So, under conditions where 4:1 ratio crawling isn't required (beaches, snow, and most desert conditions), the X may actually be the better choice.
I hadn't thought about that previously, but it does indeed seem to be the case. Comments?
