Rusting Hinges
i have had my JK for about a week and been on a roll fixing it up. It’s a 2014 and has rusting hindges. Not covered under warranty and after reading they put aluminum hinges on a steel body. That’s my understanding.
So I noticed my hood hinges bubbling . I ordered new black powered hinges from Konole something. They seems nice just a little off on color but I can’t see a big difference. I’m going to paint under them and silicon them just as the video says.
Now 2 of my door hinges are rusting. Those I rather have the same color black. What are my options? Do I buy just the power coated ones ? Do I leave them and hope they don’t get to bad? I’m worried the rust will move onto the body of the door. Or do I get them off and take them to a body shop? I hear that’s only a temp fix because they again are aluminum and will just re rust? I can get paint ready ones just it’s going to cost me $$$$.
what are you thoughts? Am I approching this the right way?
Thanks
Door hinges are an easy call- MorRyde makes an awesome tailgate hinge that is greaseable and allows for more weight on the tailgate as well as additional accessories. Anyways, the success with the tailgate hinges lead to production on the door hinges- all steel so you won't have the dissimilar metal issue again.

Another thing to do that may or may not help is to drill the mirrors. When you remove the mirrors you'll see a small divet on the bottom where water is supposed to exit. Typically it'll get clogged with debris in no time flat. I've opened the hole up to make sure that anything in there gets out right away so there isn't a continual stream of contaminants seeping down over the hinges. Again- I don't have any empirical evidence aside from the fact that I don't have any debris caught in my mirrors where it used to be caught frequently.

Thanks. I’m not worried about my tail gate hinges it’s my door hinges left and right that are turning white. I think I need to pop them off, sand and paint under just as I did my hood hinges.
I would think I should not have to do this.. I think Chrysler messed up

The success of the tailgate hinges lead to the production of the door hinges, they'd be a great replacement for the corroded door hinges you've got.
I agree though, we shouldn't be fixing these issues. Some early owners (08ish) were able to get Chrysler to clean up the hinges and paint them.

What about these? Kentrol Door Hinges 50575
should I replace just the door side hinge or also the one that connects to the body?
It looks like Retrofit Offroad has them, link below. The Kentrol's aren't bad, I had their tailgate hinges on a previous jeep. They were significantly heavier duty than what came off the jeep.
Another thing to look at since you're already into the jeep and replacing parts....how well do the doors swing and do they come in and out of the hinges nicely? If not then it would be a good time to add the Delrin door hinge liners. I wouldn't imagine the 14 would be that bad but then again, the corrosion could be in the liner too.

Now my windsheld hinge that’s in the center has rust. I don’t know where to get that at.
