I'm sure it's a safety feature. Not sure how much pressure these things build up when traveling down the road.

I'm not sure how important they are. I have heard that with some of the early hardtops (at least) had problems when people would over tighten them. It would create bumps and cracks in the roof if I remember right.

With the arrival of the nice weather, my freedom panels have been constantly coming off until I can get the soft top on. I decided I'd leave the screws out as it's just a bother and I've had absolutely not issues yet. Been like that for a month now and it's sat through some really hard downpours with no problems.

Is this with the hardtop on and the freedom panels on or just freedom panels no back top?

Will those panels stay on without the back of the top on?

I never put them in unless the back is off. If you run with just freedom panels then you need to flip the tabs down on the panels. I have ran without the screws but it rattles on the sport bar.

I take mine out the first nice day of spring, and they don't go back on until the end of fall. Never had any wind noise or leaks, and the panels have never flown away.
