Seat Removal
 

Anyone know the trick for front driver seat removal on my 2008 JKUR. Got the front bolts out but rears will not budge even with jack handle on my ratchet (I don't make a living with my tools) and underneath I can see the bottom of the bolts. Not rusty but they look like the factory glued them in. Do I need a small spot of heat on the bottom cage nut which is accessible? Need the seat out to get under dash for pedal removal and convert to auto brake pedal. Converting to Chev Gen V 5.3/8 spd auto. Just trying to do the pre-work before the Motech kit gets here. Any help is appreciated.

Do you have a friend with an impact wrench? Mine came right out but then again, I think I was 25,000 miles in when it got soaked so I had to pull everything out to dry it. You've tried penetrating oils and given them a chance to sit? I don't recall any blue loctite on those bolts.

Put some heat to the bolts under the tub, they use thread locker on them.

The front bolts gave me more problems than the rear bolts. They use some industrial strength thread locker on those bolts. I pulled mine out around 5K miles and put a pipe on the end of a 2ft 1/2in breaker bar to get them cracked loose, so likely no rust at that time.

Had about a 4ft pipe on my 1/2 in breaker, and still barely got them loose. Jeep was only a year or two old at the time.

Pneumatic impact wrench takes them right off. Never even knew this was an issue and I had to reinstall my new front seats 3 different times.

I paid my garage to loosen and reinstall mine - really tough.

Will back seat tumble forward like a TJ?

Use a lot of PB Blaster over a couple of days. I wouldn't use an impact wrench. I tried that on my passenger seat and snapped a rear bolt right off. What a pain in the a$$ to drill out. My driver's side I sprayed with PB blaster for a couple of days then used a socket and breaker bar to remove them.

Thanks for writing this. I will make sure to be careful now. That's important to not have to drill it out. I recently had to drill out a water pump bolt and rear lower shock. It sucks.
