Default Security Light / Sentry Key Issue

For the past 8 months or so, I’ve been having the red security dash light pop on occasionally. The first couple times were a couple months apart, but in the last month or so, it’s become more frequent, every other drive or so. It always goes away by turning off and restarting the Jeep.

In the research on this matter, it seems others have found this to be benign, to finding themselves eventually unable to start the Jeep. Thankfully, so far, no other issues other than that annoying red light. I’ve also tried some of the remedies such as swapping to the alternative key, as well as changing the batteries in both keys. Neither has resolved the issue. Ideally without a trip to the dealership?

Has anyone else found a potential solution to this? The stored code I get is B1A28, ecm mismatch with sentry key immobilizer (skim) ecm mismatch with skim

That light is nuts. When I bought my ‘09 the light would flash intermittently while I was driving. Occasionally the chime thing would go off too. I only got one key with the Jeep but was able to program two others using JScan. All keys did the same thing.

My sons and I drive the Jeep quite a bit and slowly, over about 6 months, the red light thing dissipated. Weird. I realize you have the opposite problem.

have you tried other keys to see if the key is the issue?
