Brought my jeep in for some routine service. Oil change, rotate ties, soft top recall. Service guy tried selling me all sorts of maintenance services. The only one I agreed to is fuel injector cleaning.
Was this a mistake? Is this service not worth doing at 27,000 miles?
Just curious if I was taken for a ride.
Thanks

unless it's free...do you're own maint. the Jeep is begging you to work on it, and get to know it. The satisfaction of you doing it, and doing it right is like buying auto insurance...Peace of Mind.
Unfortunately, a long ride. Probably charged you over $100 too. They are in business to make $. If you continue to go there I would generally recommend saying no to service that you didn't request unless it's called for in the manual. Probably a good idea to check that before you bring it in next time so that you'll know what's due or not and they don't get you with a sales pitch.
Took mine in for the computer software upgrade recall and they mentioned I needed a new airfilter and to have the calipers and brakes cleaned as the sliders for the pads were sticking.
I asked how they new that? They mentioned they had a wheel off and checked. A common issue in the NY winter vehicles with salt.
I stated I would take care of it and thanked them.
Key to the wheel locks was in my pocket, how did they get a wheel off.....
Common for a dealership or service station to look over a vehicle to see if additional sales can be made.
Just know your vehicle and take note of their suggestions and if you decide you should have something done, you made a good choice.
Just my 2 cents.

After getting home and doing a quick search, i found a lot of people saying the same thing.
They actually sold it to me as a recommend maintenance for 30,000mi service. I told the guy this morning not to do it, but they already did. I said nothing in the schedule for this in the manual. He told me he would work with me on the price.
Oh well...i feel dumb. Ah....whats a $100!
Just another note...I will be getting the new soft top today, as i had pin holes from the recall. Hopefully my windows haven't faded too much and will match the new top!

Live and learn. I once paid $500 for a basic brake replacement on a 1986 Cadillac, and that was over ten years ago (so I really got screwed).
After that experience I learned how to do them myself and that was the last time I ever paid for a brake service again.

as an auto professional it sounds like BS, but I will tell you at 50,000 miles 2 brake pads on the rear of my Unlimited rusted AWAY....I mean GONE. I live in central Virginia, no salt. So up there they may not be BS'n you!!!
