Default Shift cable bushing for 08 JKU

Had a new clutch put in this weekend, and when the transfer case was disconnected, the plastic bushing that goes on the shifter arm of the transfer case broke. They are telling me that they cant find just the bushing, only a complete shift cable for 250 dollars. sounds fishy to me so I looked online and found a part # for a bushing that fits a TJ. part is 68064273AB. Everything I see says this bushing will fit. Has anyone else encountered this, and did it fit or is there another part number?

The part number for the bushing at the JK t-case is 68064273AB, same as in your post.

I bought several at the dealer.

Yep, I think the plastic in the early ones had a bad batch and would get brittle. Many years ago had one fail while off-road, had to get under and shift it. Ended up finding a dealer, over a hundred miles away, that left a bag of them in their mailbox for me to pick up after-hours at no charge! Years later did the clutch and it was still in perfect shape, hence the suspicion there was a bad batch.

Had one fail at Pismo last year, keep a couple in the trail spares bag. Same bushing on Tcase end as Shifter end if I remember correctly.

Have 125,000 on mine without issue, but have heard of these failing pretty regularly. As others mentioned you can get just the bushing, if the failures continue as others have experienced, there is a complete cable assembly replacement from Advanced Adapters that does away with the plastic bushings. When I looked into it a few years back they were running about $150. I'm still running the factory assembly on mine.
