Slight wobble at highway speed
Once in a while if I hit a rut/small pothole on the highway when doing about 100-110 km/h I begin to get a slight wobble and when I brake the jeep will pull to the right. After slowing down to about 50 km/h it will still pull to the right when braking but there is no noticeable wobble, this doesnt happen frequently but has happend 2 - 3 times in the last month and a half. If the jeep has been shut off for 30 minutes or so this condition goes away. Anyone have any ideas? I have checked lug nuts, spacers, air pressure, brakes but nothing else, i'm not lifted. I know it could be a number of things but I was thinking maybe a loose trackbar, ball joints, bad steering stabilizer/dampener?
Sounds like the beginnings of death wobble. Mine kinda started like that. It happened once. Then 2 months later again. The wobble went from what seemed like the tire was just just bouncing a little, and as it happened the next time it was full on death wobble. I was told by a Jeep mechanic here in NJ that it is usually a combo of a few different things to cause my full on death wobble. He said it is most likely my track bar and my stock goodyear wranglers. They have 76,000 miles on them and he said he had a very hard time balancing them. He also said they are notoriously bad tires. I just ordered new rims and tires and should have them in a few days. The mechanic said that I needed tires any way, so that was a good start. If The new rubber doesn't get rid of the problem, my track bar will be next. I ll report back my progress for you in the next few days. Good luck!!
